The Houston Airport System today temporarily halted commercial operations at both Bush and Hobby airport. Until further notice, flights into Houston’s two main airports will be limited to humanitarian flights and first responder support for Hurricane recovery efforts in Houston and southeast Texas.
Floodwaters eliminated access to and from both airports making it impossible for most passengers, flight crews, vendors and airport support personnel to safely reach the airport.
“The safety of our passengers is our primary concern. Air Carriers at both of our airports have worked since the storm entered the gulf to manage their air passenger traffic to inconvenience as few travelers as possible,” said Houston Airport System Director Mario Diaz. “We are working diligently to make accommodations for those who were unable to reach their destination.”
Passengers who are unable to reach their destination, within the Houston area, or who are unable to make connecting flights should communicate with their air carrier.
